Custom Joinery: Repose

In this Rozelle residence, joinery was designed not as a finishing touch but as an integral part of the home’s architecture. Every element was made to align with the architectural language while enhancing the way the spaces are used day to day.

The kitchen anchors the main living level, with a fluted island in soft-grey cabinetry and pale stone that blends seamlessly into the splash back. A fully integrated cooktop is cut directly into the bench top, keeping the surface uninterrupted and refined. From here, the room opens to a framed view that draws the eye outward, connecting the cooking and dining spaces with the landscape beyond. Full-height cabinetry conceals generous storage, while warm timber accents add texture and balance.

Descending the staircase, a continuous run of joinery panels line the wall, assisting in the transition from one level to the next, leading the eye towards the lower level. On the lower level, a dedicated wine wall greets you as you round the corner at the base of the stairs. The double integrated wine fridges and illuminated glass shelving serve as both a striking visual feature and a practical storage hub for entertaining. This space adds a moment of luxury to the home while remaining perfectly attuned to its surroundings.

The laundry is another standout, cleverly tucked under the stairs, making use of every millimetre with custom-shaped cabinetry that follows the line of the staircase. Behind tailored doors, appliances, hampers, and shelving are arranged for efficiency, turning an awkward nook into a hardworking, well-organised utility zone.

Bathrooms throughout the home feature custom vanities that balance storage and proportion, pairing timber look finishes with solid-surface bench tops for a refined yet durable finish. Built-in wardrobes in each bedroom are configured to suit the homeowners’ needs, ensuring storage is not only practical but beautifully integrated into the architecture.

From the kitchen’s seamless stone cook top to the wine wall’s quiet sophistication and the ingenuity of the under-stair laundry, every detail reflects Repose’s commitment to craftsmanship, proportion, and purpose. Throughout the project, the focus was on creating joinery that responds to the architecture, not just occupying space within it. Every surface, line, and alignment was considered - from the way the island meets the floor to how the cabinetry frames views and sightlines. The result is a home where form and function are inseparable, and where bespoke joinery quietly supports and elevates the everyday.
